Box Score | Game Notes

OKLAHOMA CITY (March 11, 2014) – The San Antonio Rampage (24-26-3-6) dropped a 5-2 decision to the Oklahoma City Barons (29-24-1-7) on Tuesday night at the Cox Convention Center. The Rampage got a power play goal from Ryan Whitney and another tally from Colby Robak but allowed three power play goals on seven Oklahoma City opportunities.

The Barons struck quickly as Tyler Pitlick picked up a loose puck in the San Antonio zone and put it past Scott Clemmensen just one minute into the game.

At 10:01, Greg Rallo put a shot on Oklahoma City goalie Richard Bachman, and the rebound bounced to the left point where Colby Robak was waiting to knot the game at one. With the tally, Robak now has five points in his last five games.

The rest of the opening period was defined by special teams. With the Rampage down a man after a slashing call, Brad Hunt took a pass from Mark Arcobello and put it through on Clemmensen’s right side to give the Barons a 2-1 lead. Oklahoma City took advantage of another power play late in the period as Anton Lander one-timed a cross-ice pass from Arcobello to make it 3-1 at 17:44.

San Antonio got its first chance with the man advantage with 44 seconds left in the first frame, and the Silver and Black capitalized quickly, as Ryan Whitney lit the lamp with just eight seconds left in the period to cut the deficit to one. Whitney how has two goals in as many games.

The Barons scored the only goal of the second period and extended their lead to two goals when Brandon Davidson’s blast from the point was deflected in by Will Acton at 6:24.

Oklahoma City scored its third power play goal of the game at 11:39 of the third period when Lander sent a pass to Ford next to the San Antonio net and Ford punched it in to give the Barons a 5-2 lead. The last time the Rampage gave up three power play goals in a game was on January 3, also against the Barons.

The Rampage outshot the Barons 39-33, including a 13-9 margin in the first period. The Silver and Black converted on 1-of-3 power play opportunities, and Scott Clemmensen, who was making his second straight start in net, recorded 28 saves. San Antonio falls to 4-7-0-0 against Oklahoma City this season and has yet to win at the Cox Convention Center.

The Rampage return home on Thursday, March 13 to take on the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7 p.m. in an All-You-Can-Eat Night at the AT&T Center. Tickets can be purchased by calling a Rampage representative at 210-444-5554 or online at sarampage.com.
