San Antonio Rampage goaltender Jacob Markstrom made 40 saves to lift the Rampage past the Peoria Rivermen by a score of 2-1 on Saturday night at Carver Arena. The win gave San Antonio a back-to-back sweep of Peoria for the weekend.

After a scoreless first period, Peoria right wing Chris Bruton potted his first career AHL goal 10:27 into the second session. He deposited the rebound of a Cade Fairchild shot past Markstrom to give the Rivermen a 1-0 advantage. Center Anthony Nigro picked up the secondary assist on the Bruton marker.

San Antonio evened the score with a power-play goal from center Bracken Kearns at the 3:49 mark of the third frame. He found a loose puck in the crease and beat Peoria backstop Jake Allen to knot the score at 1-1. The assists on Kearns’ 15th goal of the year went to defenseman Colby Robak and right wing Bill Thomas.

The Rampage took their first lead of the game nearly six minutes later when forward Greg Rallo scored his 15th goal of the season. From the right side of the net, he took a feed from Kearns and slid the puck by Allen to hand San Antonio a 2-1 advantage. Thomas tallied his second assist of the night with the secondary helper on the play. The goal marked Rallo’s 12th point in his last 13 contests.

Markstrom made 40 saves on 41 Rivermen shots for his seventh win of the season while Allen turned aside 25 of 27 San Antonio attempts in the Peoria loss.

The Rampage (30-22-2-1) continue their Rodeo road trip tomorrow with a 3 p.m. (CST) contest in Milwaukee against the Admirals.
