The San Antonio Rampage extended their season-best winning streak to six games with a 6-2 victory over the Texas Stars on Friday night in front of 7,869 fans at the AT&T Center.

Rampage forward Greg Rallo started the scoring at 4:17 of the first period when he took a feed from center James Wright and ripped a wrist shot over the left shoulder of Stars backstop Andrew Raycroft to hand San Antonio a 1-0 edge. Center Scott Timmins picked up the secondary assist on Rallo’s 10th goal of the season.

With less than two minutes remaining in the opening frame, Rallo returned the favor helping Timmins score to give the Rampage a 2-0 lead. Timmins got his stick on a Michael Caruso shot from the point and deflected the puck past Raycroft for his seventh marker of the year. Rallo notched his second point of the night with the alternate assist on the Timmins’ seventh tally of the season.

The Rampage struck again with five seconds remaining in the first to go up 3-0. Right wing Michal Repik received a pass from center Jon Matsumoto and fired a slap shot that beat Raycroft to his right to notch his fourth goal of the 2011-12 campaign.

Texas got on the board 4:08 into the second when former San Antonio forward Angelo Esposito stole the puck behind the San Antonio net and set up right wing Tomas Vincour. He fed Vincour at the top of the crease and Vincour deposited the puck into the Rampage net to cut the Stars’ deficit to 3-1.

San Antonio restored their three-goal lead, 4-1, at the 7:19 mark of the second. Repik found Matsumoto in front of the Texas goal and Matsumoto beat Raycroft along the ice to extend his point streak to seven games with his 17th score of the year. Caruso tallied his second point of the evening with the secondary helper on the play.

Esposito brought the Stars to within two goals at 4-2 with a goal late in the middle stanza at 17:37. He redirected a shot from center Ryan Garbutt and the puck caromed past Rampage netminder Dov Grumet-Morris to register his third goal of the season. Defenseman Dan Spang picked up his 15th assist with the secondary helper on Esposito’s tally.

San Antonio went up 5-2 with an Ondrej Roman goal nearly five minutes into the third. He wristed a shot over Raycroft’s left shoulder to pot his second goal of 2011-12. The assists on Roman’s score went to Wright and center Wacey Rabbit. Raycroft was relieved by goalie Tyler Beskorowany following the play.

Rampage center Mark Cullen widened the San Antonio lead to 6-2 at 7:46 of the final period. Forward Bracken Kearns dug the puck out of the left corner and dished to right wing Bill Thomas, who quickly found Cullen at the front of the net. Cullen sent a shot on goal that eluded Beskorowany to total his sixth goal of the year.

Grumet-Morris made 23 stops on 25 Stars attempts for his 12th win of the season while Raycroft turned aside 15 of 20 Rampage shots in the Texas loss. Beskorowany made five saves on six San Antonio shots in relief.

The Rampage (23-18-2-0) are back in action tomorrow when they faceoff against their I-10 rivals, the Houston Aeros, at 7:00 p.m. (CST) at the AT&T Center.
