Florida Panthers Executive Vice-President & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that Florida has acquired defenseman Sean Sullivan from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for center Tim Kennedy.
Sullivan, 27, has played in 32 games with the Worcester Sharks (AHL) this season scoring five goals with 19 assists. The Boston, Mass. native has appeared in 183 games with San Antonio (2006-07 & 2007-10) registering 89 points (21-68-89) and 69 PIM.
Sullivan leads Rampage defensemen in several categories on the team’s all-time list, including: goals (21), assists (68) and points (89). He also ranks second on the franchise list in games played (183) amongst all Rampage skaters. His back-to-back overtime game-winning goals on Oct. 9 & 10, 2009 earned him the AHL Player of the Week Award. Sullivan represented the Rampage at the 2010 AHL All-Star Classic.
The 6-foot, 190-pound defenseman posted career highs in goals (12), assists (37) and points (49) while playing for San Antonio during the 2009-10 campaign. He was drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes in the ninth round (272nd overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
The Rampage will host a back-to-back Lone Star Faceoff series this weekend at the AT&T Center.
