San Antonio Rampage defenseman Mike Kostka scored his second goal of the year in the Rampage’s 4-1 loss to the Barons Sunday afternoon at the AT&T Center.

Left wing Philippe Cornet netted his seventh goal of the season at 7:54 of the first period to give the Barons a 1-0 lead. Oklahoma City defenseman Kirill Tulupov began the play by firing a shot from the right wall toward the goal and off Rampage goalie Tyler Plante. Plante swept the rebound behind the net but Barons center Gilbert Brule picked it up and centered to a cutting Cornet in the slot. Cornet then one-timed the puck and beat Plante on his glove side for the score.

Kostka answered with a power-play goal for the Rampage to tie it nearly eight minutes later. He took a wrist shot from the point that found its way past screened Barons goaltender David LeNeveu and into the upper right corner of the net to knot the score 1-1. Forwards Michal Repik and Bracken Kearns were credited with the assists on Kostka’s goal.

Oklahoma City regained the lead at 18:19 of the opening frame when right wing Ryan Keller converted on a Barons two-on-one opportunity for his third goal of the campaign. Defenseman Colten Teubert started the odd man rush from the neutral zone before passing off to Keller on his left. Keller wasted no time and took a shot that beat Plante inside the far post to make the count 2-1 in favor of Oklahoma City.

Plante was forced to leave the game with an equipment malfunction with 1:14 remaining in the first. Foster replaced him in between the pipes for his seventh game in a Rampage uniform.

The Barons extended their lead to 3-1 with a power-play goal from Brule at the 3:44 mark of the third period. Brule was stationed near the left hash marks when he deflected a slap shot from right wing Mark Arcobello by Rampage goaltender Brian Foster for his second goal of the season and second point of the day. Also receiving an assist on the play was defenseman Kevin Montgomery, who tallied his fourth assist on the year.

Josh Green added an empty net goal with 57 seconds remaining in the game to cap the scoring at 4-1. Green’s third goal of the season was assisted by left wing Teemu Hartikainen, who notched his seventh point of the year with the helper.

LeNeveu stopped 26 of the 27 Rampage shots he faced for the win. Plante made 16 saves on 18 Barons shots before giving way to Foster at the end of the second. Foster recorded 13 saves on 14 shots in relief.

The Rampage (3-5-0-0) will host the Toronto Marlies on Saturday at 7 p.m. for Face-Off Against Kids Cancer Night at the AT&T Center.
