Rampage Limited Edition Jersey T-Shirts

The Rampage are currently selling limited edition jersey t-shirts that feature Rampage team captain Nolan Yonkman’s name and number along with the Face-Off Against Kids Cancer logo. Proceeds from the t-shirt sales will benefit the Face-Off Against Kids Cancer program and Silver & Black Give Back.

Yadira's Story
The shirt also features the initials “YM” on the front in honor of Yadira Medrano, Yonkman’s Face-Off Against Kids Cancer buddy who passed away on October 4, 2011 from complications of childhood cancer. Yadira was 8 years old when she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) on December 8, 2009. She had her left leg amputated in May 2010. After undergoing 5 months of chemotherapy and radiation, she had scans in October 2010 that showed the cancer spread to both lungs. In April 2011, the doctors revealed the cancer spread to her shoulder.

The hospital in San Antonio could do nothing more for her so they referred her to MD Anderson in Houston. The family was making weekly trips to Houston to check on Yadira. Her scans in July showed the cancer had spread to her right leg, wrists, elbows and shoulders.

On August 6th she was rushed to the hospital in San Antonio because she couldn’t breathe and her heart rate was out of control. After her health stabilized, they transported her back to MD Anderson in Houston. Doctors tried a different treatment on her, and Yadira seemed to be improving. She felt good enough to make it to San Antonio on Oct. 1st to see her buddy (Yonkman) from the Face-Off Against Kids Cancer Program.

The family then returned to Houston for a routine clinic visit where doctors discovered that Yadira’s lungs were full of fluid and she had pneumonia. She was admitted to ICU that evening and the following night Yadira lost her battle to childhood cancer.

In addition to the shirt, the Rampage players are sporting a “YM” decal on their helmets in memory of Yadira.
