Seabrook, Esposito, Shirokov Highlight Panthers Weekend Moves

Florida Panthers Executive Vice President and General Manager Dale Tallon announced Saturday that the club has acquired defenseman Keith Seabrook from the Calgary Flames, along with forward Angelo Esposito from the Winnipeg Jets and forward Sergei Shirokov from the Vancouver Canucks.

Tallon also announced that the club has agreed to terms with forward Ryan Carter to a one-year, two way contract.

Seabrook, 22, played in 63 games for both the Abbotsford Heat (AHL) and the Manitoba Moose (AHL) last season scoring five goals with 18 assists. For his career in the AHL, he has played in 141 games with both Abbotsford and Manitoba registering 51 points (15-36-51) and 79 PIIM. Seabrook is the younger brother of Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook.

The Delta, British Columbia native was drafted by Washington Capitals with their second choice (52nd overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Esposito, 22, was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round (20th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. The Montreal, Quebec native played in 57 games for the Chicago Wolves (AHL) last season scoring three goals with 10 assists and 35 PIM.

Shirokov, 25, appeared in 76 games with the Manitoba Moose (AHL) last season, ranking first on the club in goals (22), assists (36) and points (58). He has played in eight career National Hockey League games all with Vancouver (2009-11), scoring one goal.

The Moscow, Russia native was drafted by Vancouver in the sixth round (163rd overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Carter, 27, played in 12 games with Florida last season recording three points (2-1-3) and 22 PIM. He was acquired from the Carolina Hurricanes on Feb. 24, along with a fifth round draft pick in the 2011 National Hockey League Entry draft in exchange for forward Cory Stillman.

For his career in the NHL, Carter has played in 182 games for Anaheim (2007-11), Carolina (2010-11) and Florida (2011) scoring 14 goals with 21 assists and 185 PIM. The White Bear Lake, MN native has appeared in 20 post season contests, all with Anaheim registering five points (2-3-5) and six PIM.
