San Antonio Rampage General Manager Brad Treliving today announced that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed forward Jed Ortmeyer to a professional try-out (PTO).
Ortmeyer, 32, is a seven-year veteran and has appeared in 306 National Hockey League (NHL) games and 137 AHL games. Last season he skated in 76 games with the San Jose Sharks (NHL) and collected eight goals and 11 assists.
The Omaha, Neb. native has totaled 20 goals and 44 assists in 137 AHL games with Hartford and Milwaukee. Ortmeyer recorded 21 goals and 30 assists in 306 NHL games with San Jose, Nashville and the New York Rangers.
The 6-foot-0, 190-pound forward has appeared in 33 AHL playoff games tallying six goals and nine assists. He has also appeared in 17 NHL playoff games recording a goal and an assist.
Ortmeyer attended the University of Michigan (CCHA) and skated in 145 career games collecting 117 points (51 goals, 66 assists) over the course of four seasons (1999-2003).
His older brother Jake appeared in one game with the Rampage during the 2006-07 season making them the second brother combo to play for the Rampage.
