Panthers return Matsumoto to Rampage

Florida Panthers Executive Vice President & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has reassigned center Jonathan Matsumoto to the San Antonio Rampage (AHL). Additionally, the Rampage have reassigned right wing Anthony Luciani to their ECHL affiliate, the Cincinnati Cyclones.

Matsumoto, 25, earned his first recall to Florida this season on Feb. 23 after being acquired by the Panthers in a four-player trade on Jan. 18. The 6-foot-0, 184-pound forward played in one game with the Panthers on Feb. 23 recording 5:04 of time on ice and nine shifts. In 14 games played in San Antonio this season, Matsumoto has recorded four goals with 11 assists, previously totaling 34 points (13-21-34) in 41 games with Charlotte earlier this season. The Ottawa, Ont., native totaled two goals and 4 PIM in 13 games with the Carolina Hurricanes last season, and was selected by Philadelphia in the third round(79th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Luciani, 21, has totaled 32 points (14 goals, 18 assists) in 34 games with the Cyclones this season. The 5-foot-8, 190-pound forward has appeared in two games with the Rampage this season. Luciani, a native of Maple, Ontario, played in three games with the Rochester Americans (AHL) last season contributing two goals and one assist.

The Rampage close out a back-to-back series with the Peoria Rivermen tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Carver Arena. They will travel to Milwaukee tomorrow and Chicago on Wednesday to finish their 10th annual Rodeo road trip. Check out sarampage.com for all the latest news on the Rampage.
