Defenseman Gus Young Collects First Rampage Point

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Jan. 10, 2017) – The San Antonio Rampage (16-18-2-0) finished their six-game road trip with a 5-2 loss to the Bakersfield Condors (12-12-4-1) on Tuesday night at Rabobank Arena. Rampage defenseman Gus Young collected his first point, an assist, in a Rampage sweater.

Bakersfield opened the scoring with two goals in the first stanza when Joey LaLeggia and Josh Currie found the back of the net at the 3:52 and 12:38 marks respectively.

San Antonio narrowed the lead to one early in the second period when J.T. Compher netted a pass from A.J. Greer and Gus Young just 87 seconds into the frame. The Condors regained their two-goal lead when Jere Sallinen registered an unassisted goal at 3:22. The remainder of the period was silent until Bakersfield’s Bryce Aneloski recorded his first goal of the season at the 17:15 mark, giving the Condors a 4-1 lead.

After 40 minutes of play, San Antonio decided to replace goaltender Spencer Martin in favor of Jeremy Smith. The Rampage cut into the Condors lead early in the third when Alex Belzile capitalized on a pass from Duncan Siemens and Reid Petryk at the 3:39 mark. San Antonio’s rally fell short as Bakersfield solidified the victory on a Ryan Hamilton goal 16:13 into the final period.
