The Komets took a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Utah Grizzlies in the Western Conference Semifinals on Wednesday with a 3-1 win in which they got goals from Mike Embach, Shawn Sydlowski and Garrett Thompson. Pat Nagle recorded 20 saves on 21 shots in the win.
Fort Wayne won the first two games of the series at home, taking a 6-4 win in Game 1 and a 5-3 win in Game 2.
In Game 1, Trevor Cheek earned the First Star of the Game with a goal, a shorthanded tally in the third period, and two assists, while Troy Bourke tallied a goal and an assist to take the Second Star of the Game.
Alex Belzile starred in Game 2, recording two tallies to earn the First Star of the Game.
Bourke has now notched five goals and six assists in the Komets' 10 postseason contests, his 11 points ranking second on the team, while Belzile has six goals and five helpers. Thompson has also been a big contributor with seven goals and two assists.
