EAGLES SILENCE RAMPAGE TO CLOSE ROAD TRIP
LOVELAND, CO (Feb. 27, 2019) –Andrew Agozzino netted a hat trick as part of a four-point night to power the Colorado Eagles (26-22-4) to a 6-0 win over the San Antonio Rampage (25-26-5) on Wednesday night at Budweiser Events Center.
The defeat was the second shutout loss for the Rampage this season, and the first since Oct. 23. The Rampage finish the season-series winless in four games against the Eagles.
After a scoreless first period, Agozzino opened the scoring at 7:02 of the second period with his 24thgoal of the season. On a 2-on-1 rush, Agozzino snapped the puck past Ville Husso’s glove to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.
Colorado struck again at 16:13 of the second period with David Warsofsky’s power play one-timer from the slot, his fourth goal of the season. Agozzino made it 3-0 at 18:54 with a left-wing wrist shot that beat Husso.
At 9:07 of the third period, AJ Greer finished a rebound of a Scott Kosmachuk shot for his 15thof the season.
Agozzino completed the hat trick on the power play at 15:04 of the third to make it 5-0. Mark Alt missed the net with a shot, but the carom off the end boards popped out to Agozzino with an open net for his 26thof the year. Dominic Toninato capped the scoring 37 seconds later with his ninth of the season.
Agozzino has an eight-game points streak, with nine goals and 15 points in that span.
The teams combined for 95 minutes in penalties, 61 of which were assessed with three seconds left in regulation. Eagles forward Kale Kessy went after Chris Thorburn, the two dropping the gloves and Kessy ultimately earning an instigator penalty and a game misconduct. The ensuing brawl involved all players on the ice, including the goaltenders when Colorado’s Pavel Francouz skated down the ice and hit Husso from behind. Francouz was given five minutes for charging.
The start for Husso was his first since Dec. 27, having been out with a lower-body injury.
The Rampage finish the ten-game road trip 2-5-3.
The Rampage return home to the AT&T Center on Friday night to face the Milwaukee Admirals for Military Appreciation Night. Puck-drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT, with the game available on FOX Sports Southwest, The Ticket 760AM, and on AHLTV.
