AVALANCHE RECALL FORWARD JIM O’BRIEN
SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 24, 2017) – The Colorado Avalanche announced today that forward Jim O’Brien has been recalled from the San Antonio Rampage (AHL). Additionally, the Rampage have recalled forward Alex Belzile from the Colorado Eagles (ECHL).
O’Brien’s first call up to the Avalanche serves as Colorado's 14th recall from San Antonio this season. O’Brien has registered seven goals and 10 assists in 26 contests with the Rampage, including 11 points in his last 15 games. Over the span of eight seasons, he has recorded eight goals and four assists in 67 NHL appearances with the Ottawa Senators and New Jersey Devils. He looks to make his Avalanche debut tomorrow night against the Vancouver Canucks, joining former Rampage players Spencer Martin, Cody Goloubef, Calvin Pickard, Nikita Zadorov, Andreas Martinsen, and Mikko Rantanen in Colorado.
Belzile, 25, has appeared in 29 games with the Rampage this season, registering two goals and three assists. He split the 2015-16 campaign between the Rampage and the Fort Wayne Komets, collecting a total of 16 goals and 25 assists.
