Rampage Reassign Defenseman Mason Geertsen to Colorado Eagles
SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 5, 2016) – The Colorado Avalanche announced today that goaltender Jeremy Smith has been reassigned to the San Antonio Rampage (AHL). Additionally, the Rampage have reassigned defenseman Mason Geertsen to the Colorado Eagles (ECHL). Geertsen, 21, has appeared in 12 games with the Rampage this season.
Smith, 27, returns to San Antonio after receiving his first Avalanche call-up of the season, backing up former Rampage netminder Calvin Pickard for five games. Smith has appeared in seven games with San Antonio this season, recording a .903 save percentage, and 2.60 goals-against average. Originally drafted in the second round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Nashville Predators, Smith has logged 255 AHL games between the pipes, registering 13 shutouts, 128 wins, a .910 save percentage and 2.42 goals-against average.
San Antonio continues its road trip in the first back-to-back series of the season against the San Diego Gulls on Friday night at 9 p.m. CT at the Valley View Casino Center.
