Florida Reassigns Markstrom, Petrovic to San Antonio

SUNRISE, Fla. (December 24, 2013) – Florida Panthers Executive VP/General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has reassigned G Jacob Markstrom and D Alex Petrovic to San Antonio (AHL). In addition, the team has activated G Tim Thomas from injured reserve.


Markstrom, 23, has played in 43 career National Hockey League games, all with Florida, going 11-25-5 with a 3.21 GAA. He has appeared in 12 games with Florida this season, posting a 1-6-3 mark.


The Gavle, Sweden native, has played in 10 games with the Rampage this season, going 4-5-1. He was drafted by Florida in the second round (31st overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.


Petrovic, 21, logged 15:35 of ice time with a team-high eight hits on Monday night in the Panthers 6-1 loss to Tampa Bay. He has played in 30 games for San Antonio this season recording 11 points (2-9-11) and 46 PIM. The Edmonton, AB native has played in seven games NHL games, all with Florida, recording 27 PIM.

Petrovic was drafted by Florida in the second round (36th overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
