Rampage Reassign John McFarland to Cincinnati

SAN ANTONIO (April 15, 2013) – San Antonio Rampage General Manager Mike Santos announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has reassigned rookie forward John McFarland to the team’s ECHL affiliate, the Cincinnati Cyclones.

McFarland, 21, suited up in 43 games for the Rampage this season and recorded five goals and nine assists. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound forward was averaging more than a point per game with the Cyclones before being recalled in January, tallying 12 goals and 13 assists in 23 games for the Cyclones. McFarland, a second-round pick (33rd overall) of the Florida Panthers in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, has spent the last four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League, recording a total of 190 points on 90 goals and 100 assists in 220 games. 

McFarland forward joins Cincinnati in the midst of their Kelly Clark playoff run. The Cyclones currently hold a 3-2 edge in the best-of-seven series against the Toledo Walleye. Game Six is on Tuesday at 7:35 p.m. in Toledo.  

The Rampage will square off against the Texas Stars for the 12th and final time this season tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7:00 p.m. on an All-You-Can-Eat Night at AT&T Center.
