SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 14, 2014) – San Antonio Rampage General Manager Mike Santos announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has recalled goalie Rob Madore from the team’s ECHL affiliate, the Cincinnati Cyclones. In addition, defenseman Zach Miskovic and goaltender Michael Houser have been loaned to Cincinnati.
Madore, 25, has spent the majority of his time this season with Cincinnati, where he is currently 10-4-0 through 14 games, posting a 3.03 goals against average and a 0.900 save percentage. This season, the Pittsburgh native played in one game with both Binghamton (AHL) and Charlotte (AHL), allowing only two goals in each start but taking the loss in both contests. The 5-foot-10, 176-pound netminder split time last year with the Evansville Icemen (ECHL), the Florida Everblades (ECHL) and the Charlotte Checkers in his rookie campaign. Prior to turning pro, Madore played four years (2008-12) at the University of Vermont and finished his career ranked second all-time in saves (3,352) for the Catamounts, behind only current Florida Panthers net-minder Tim Thomas.
Miskovic, 28, is in his fifth professional season, and first full season with the Rampage. The blue-liner has two assists through 10 games with the Rampage this year, and has recorded a goal and two assists through three games for the Cyclones. In 27 games with the Silver and Black last year, the 6-foot-1, 197-pound defenseman recorded four goals and nine assists through 27 games after being traded from Chicago on Feb. 14. The River Forest, Ill., native has 201 AHL games under his belt, with the bulk of it being spent with Hershey after turning pro in the 2009-10 season. He has 19 goals and 24 assists in that span.
Prior to his professional career, Miskovic played four full seasons for St. Lawrence University. In 154 games with the Saints, he totaled 27 goals and 46 assists. He began his hockey career in the United States Hockey League with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.
Houser, 21, is in his second professional season, and made his AHL debut with the Rampage on Oct. 13, earning the win for his first start. Through 10 games with the Silver and Black this year, the Youngstown, Ohio native is 5-4-0 with a 2.87 goals-against average and a 0.902 save percentage. In 11 games with Cincinnati earlier this season, Houser went 5-5-1 with a 1.98 goals-against and a 0.934 save percentage.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound net-minder began his career in the United States Hockey League, and went on to play three seasons with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League before turning pro. Houser became the first American-born goalie to win the Red Tilson Trophy, which is awarded to the most outstanding player in the Ontario Hockey League, following his 2011-12 season with the London Knights. Houser posted a 46-15-1 record to tie the OHL single-season record for the most wins by a goaltender.
The Rampage will face off against the Milwaukee Admirals on Thursday, Jan. 16, on an All-You-Can-Eat Night at the AT&T Center. The game is the fifth of a season-high eight-game homestand for the Rampage. Tickets can be purchased by calling a Rampage representative at 210-444-5554 or online at sarampage.com.
