SAN ANTONIO (March 10, 2013) – The San Antonio Rampage (26-26-1-4) scored a power-play goal in the closing minutes of regulation, but it was not enough to lift them past the Oklahoma City Barons (28-22-2-6), who walked away with a 3-2 victory Sunday afternoon in front of 6,858 fans and more than 300 dogs on the Rampage’s sixth annual Pucks & Paws night at the AT&T Center.

For every dog ticket purchased, the Rampage donated $5 to Alamo Area Partners for Animal Welfare (AAPAW), a coalition of animal welfare organizations in the San Antonio area who have joined forces to help bring animal welfare organizations, veterinarians, and the community together in partnership to improve the lives of animals in the San Antonio area.

Eric Selleck tallied his fifth goal of the year, while Brendon Nash lit the lamp in the closing minutes of the third period on an extended power play, but Barons goaltender Oliver Roy made 37 saves off 39 shots to earn the victory over San Antonio.

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak at the AT&T Center for the Rampage, who have still won three of their last five. The victory was also Oklahoma City’s first regular season win in San Antonio since Oct. 30, 2011. The Barons had previously lost their last five games at the AT&T Center.

C.J. Stretch opened the scoring for Oklahoma City at 1:52 of the first period when he fired a shot from just above the goal line that snuck through the pads of Rampage netminder Dov Grumet-Morris.

San Antonio outshot the Barons, 15-10, in the first period, but Oklahoma City held the 1-0 edge going into the middle frame.

Mark Arcobello added to the score at 13:31 of the second period when he fired a shot from the right wing boards while on the power play to make it 2-0.

The Rampage would answer, though, at 15:15 of the second period when Jonathan Hazen found Eric Selleck open in the slot. The goal was Selleck’s fifth of the season and first since Feb. 24th against Grand Rapids. Selleck has recorded five points (two goals, three assists) in his last seven games.

The Barons reclaimed the two-goal lead when Martin Marincin made it 3-1 at 11:02 of the third period with a blast from the left faceoff dot.

Nash brought the Rampage back within one at 18:32 of the third period while on the power play. San Antonio had their best chances in the final two minutes of the game, as the Barons committed five straight minor penalties to close out the game. Despite the man advantage, the clock ran out on San Antonio and the Barons secured a 3-2 win.

The Rampage won the shot battle, 39-25, and went 1-for-8 on the power play. The Barons ended the night 1-for-2 on the man advantage.

The two clubs will face each other once again on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. on an A Tickets for all remaining Rampage home games can be purchased at the AT&T Center Southeast Box Office, by calling a Rampage representative at 210-444-5554 or online at sarampage.com
